Ahmad feat. Ras Kass & Saafir - Come Widdit

In the times of convenience stores, donut shops, and arcades, kids would line up quarters to symbolically call “I got next” on one of the greatest fighting games of all time, Street Fighter 2. With the game’s unexpected success, the Hollywood Think-tank decided to get while the getting was good. They quickly cashed in on the franchise and released the video game based movie starring Mr. Black Silk Underwear Himself, Jean Claude Van Damme as Guile.

Since Capcom is celebrating the game’s 20th anniversary (that’s a 1989 debut for the mathematically illiterate) this year with the recent release of Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li, we are witnissing the revival of “I got next.” Except instead of lining up with real coins at the local arcade, kids are virtually queuing on their PlayStation3s and Xbox360s.
And instead of vinyl, kids are downloading mp3s.  So to honor the current Street Fighter renaissance, here’s a gem from the Street Fighter Movie Soundtrack from 1994. Whether or not you liked the movie, if you’re into hip-hop you recognized the real in its soundtrack. This cut features Ahmad, Ras Kass, and Saafir (Hobo Junction).  They have “been all around the planet,” including the Street Fighter 2 fight map, repping the underground from the Golden State.
